Hi! My name is Caleb, and I am a senior communications major at Stonehill College. My passion for journalism began in 7th grade when I joined my school's video production club. From there, I began taking video production classes during my freshman year of high school, and in my sophomore year, I was part of a group that started a weekly, student-run news broadcast called Code Blue News. Being a part of this program made me realize that broadcast journalism was the path I wanted to take in life. I spent my junior and senior years as an executive producer for the show, getting the opportunity to lead our team and win numerous awards. Helping build that program is still one of my proudest accomplishments, and it continues to thrive today.
At Stonehill, I was a member of The Summit, Stonehill's independent, student-run newspaper. I joined the paper in 2022 as a copy editor, reading each section and checking for errors before the paper went to print. In January 2024 I began regularly reporting for The Summit, covering campus news and events, and was selected to be the next editor in chief. During my tenure as editor in chief, I initiated the redesign and modernization of The Summit's website, recruited and managed a staff of 19, and updated the paper's policies and standards.Â
In my professional career, I have worked at Holbrook Community Access and Media for over five years. I started off as a volunteer before being officially hired as a production technician in July 2019. My primary responsibilities have included coverage of town government meetings and high school athletics. At HCAM, I also got the opportunity to work on a documentary about the Baird and McGuire superfund site in Holbrook. It is at HCAM where I developed a passion for the cable access television industry, providing the citizens of Holbrook with transparent coverage of town government meetings, events, and high school athletics.
